“Re:Zero fans rejoice as the anime is set to return with a highly anticipated third season! The announcement was made during the AnimeJapan 2023 event by Kadokawa. After a two-year hiatus since the completion of the second season, the popular series will be back with new episodes, although the exact release date is yet to be confirmed.
Accompanying the exciting news, a new trailer and visual have been unveiled, offering a glimpse into the upcoming season. While specific details about the staff and cast members have not been announced, fans can expect familiar voices to reprise their roles. The third season’s announcement comes nearly two years after the conclusion of the second season in March 2021.
Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World – is based on Tappei Nagatsuki’s ongoing light novel series, which originally debuted on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in April 2012. The anime adaptation of the series premiered its first season in April 2016, with Crunchyroll streaming the episodes internationally. The second season, split into two parts, premiered in July 2020 and concluded in January 2021, with Crunchyroll once again streaming the series for global audiences.
In addition to the anime seasons, two OVA volumes titled Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World – Memory Snow and The Frozen World were released three years ago. Both OVAs were also streamed by Crunchyroll.
Alongside the third season announcement, Kadokawa revealed plans for a mobile game adaptation of the Re:Zero series, titled Witch’s Re: Surrection. Further information about the gameplay and release date for the game is yet to be disclosed.”
