Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features Avatar: The Last Airbender-inspired vehicle

A Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player recently took to social media to share an impressive vehicle inspired by the beloved animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. This creation has captured the attention of fans and adds to the growing list of remarkable machinery showcased by Tears of the Kingdom players since the game’s release on May 12.

Building upon the foundation set by its predecessor, Tears of the Kingdom elevates various elements of the franchise, including the magical abilities of the protagonist, Link. One notable addition is the Ultrahand ability, which allows players to manipulate and combine objects, empowering them to construct diverse structures and vehicles within the game world.

Among the many imaginative machines crafted by Tears of the Kingdom players, Reddit user Alphey4406 stands out with their Avatar-inspired creation. Drawing inspiration from Avatar: The Last Airbender, they meticulously constructed a vehicle resembling the iconic Sand-Sailers found in the show. In a brief gameplay clip shared online, Link fearlessly traverses the sandy expanse of the Gerudo desert, channeling the spirit of the sandbenders from Avatar, all thanks to the custom-made vehicle. Although the mast and sail are purely cosmetic, they authentically capture the aesthetic of the Si Wong tribes’ Sand-Sailers.

Similar to other vehicles crafted in Tears of the Kingdom, this Sand-Sailer-inspired machine operates on Zonai Energy Cells, which dictate its range and effectiveness, directly linked to the capacity of Link’s battery reserves. Due to this dependency, players are advised to tackle this engineering feat once they have progressed to at least the mid-game stage.

Fan-powered sleds are just one example of the diverse range of vehicles that can be created using Tears of the Kingdom’s Ultrahand ability. Players have the opportunity to construct over half a dozen different machine types, including carriages, cars, boats, balloons, airplanes, skateboards, and hovercrafts. Zonai Energy Cells act as the equivalent of a stamina meter for these vehicles, allowing players to traverse the game world while striking a balance between efficient traversal and the challenge posed by enemies.

Considering that aerial travel remains one of the most efficient ways to navigate Hyrule, Tears of the Kingdom imposes additional limitations on aircraft by implementing despawning timers for components like Zonai Wings, which disappear after 60 seconds of use. Some players have found this timer to be restrictive and have recently begun advocating for Nintendo to introduce a mechanism to circumvent this limitation, particularly in the endgame.
