Tom Holland is discussing “Spider-Man 4” and considering its potential but won’t do it just for the sake of making another one

In a recent press conference with the Critics Choice Association, Tom Holland provided insights into the ongoing discussions about a potential fourth “Spider-Man” movie. While expressing an openness to the idea, Holland emphasized that the decision to move forward hinges on the team’s ability to do justice to the iconic character. The actor, who has portrayed Peter Parker/Spider-Man in three standalone films and contributed to Marvel blockbusters like “Avengers: Endgame,” conveyed a sense of protectiveness over the Spider-Man legacy.

Holland acknowledged the rare success of the franchise, which improved with each installment, and expressed a desire to safeguard the character’s legacy. He insisted that any future film should not be created merely for the sake of it but must offer substance and value to Spider-Man’s narrative. With two standalone films surpassing $1 billion at the box office and “No Way Home” approaching the $2 billion mark, Holland’s Spider-Man has been a critical and commercial success.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had previously confirmed the development of the fourth “Spider-Man” movie, indicating that the story was in progress. However, the project faced a pause during the Writers’ Guild of America (WGA) strike, which halted the scriptwriting process. Holland had earlier mentioned that meetings related to the film were put on hold in solidarity with the writers during the strike.

With the recent conclusion of the WGA strike, discussions about “Spider-Man 4” appear to have resumed. Despite Feige’s confirmation and producer Amy Pascal’s optimism, an official announcement and release date for the fourth installment starring Holland have not been provided by Marvel Studios. The success of “No Way Home,” particularly in uniting Holland with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, has fueled enthusiasm for a potential collaboration of the three actors in future Spider-Man projects. While plans for “Spider-Man 4” are not officially confirmed, the collective interest of the actors and creative team suggests a promising continuation of the beloved franchise.
