Tokyo Revengers S2 on Disney+

Disney recently announced that the second season of the popular anime series, Tokyo Revengers, titled “Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown,” will be available for streaming on the Disney+ platform starting in January 2023. This news was unveiled during Disney’s Asia-Pacific content showcase, which showcased some of the upcoming anime content to be available on the platform. The upcoming season is part of a new partnership between Disney+ and Kodansha, a Japanese publisher of manga works.

While the release date of the second season of Tokyo Revengers has been confirmed for January 2023, no specific airing date has been announced as yet. The Christmas Showdown arc will feature a cast change, as Tatsuhisa Suzuki will no longer be playing the role of Ken “Draken” Ryūgūji. The replacement for this role has not yet been revealed, but Mikako Komatsu and Tomokazu Sugita have been added to the cast as Yuzuha and Taiju Shiba, respectively. The rest of the main cast from the first season is expected to return to voice their respective characters.

For those who are not familiar with Tokyo Revengers, it is a manga series created by Ken Wakui that was first serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2017. The series has had 30 volumes compiled as of November 2021, with a new arc set to be revealed in November 2023. The first season of the anime adaptation premiered in April 2021 and ran for 24 episodes. The anime was simultaneously streamed on Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan. A live-action film adaptation was released in July 2021 and became the number one live-action film in Japan. The sequel to the live-action film is set to be released in two parts in Spring and Summer 2023.

Disney+ has been expanding its anime content lineup and has acquired the rights to stream some of the most popular anime series. The platform acquired the currently-airing BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War, which is also a sequel anime arc, and the supernatural mystery Summertime Rendering. Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown is set to be one of the most anticipated anime releases of Winter 2023 and is expected to draw in a large audience of anime fans.
