In Tokyo Revengers, the character Kisaki has been a constant obstacle for Takemichi in his quest to save Hinata from a tragic fate. Despite Takemichi’s attempts to alter the past and change the course of events, Hinata’s death always seems inevitable due to Kisaki’s actions.
In the second season of the anime, Naoto theorizes that Kisaki might be obsessed with Hinata, and the first episode delves deeper into their shared past to uncover the reasons behind Kisaki’s behavior.
As it turns out, Kisaki and Hinata were once close friends who attended the same cram school. Kisaki, being a smart and sharp-minded child, could easily outsmart his classmates, causing them to avoid him. This made Kisaki feel lonely, but Hinata didn’t treat him the same way, and instead, she treated him with kindness and friendship.
Over time, Kisaki started feeling attracted to Hinata and developed romantic feelings for her. However, one day when Kisaki was heading back home from school, he saw Hinata being bullied and instead of standing up for her, he got afraid and hid behind a wall, watching her getting bullied. Takemichi, on the other hand, comes to her rescue and fights against her bullies. Kisaki notices love and respect in Hinata’s eyes for Takemichi, and he started to develop a feeling of hatred towards him, considering him the one who snatched Hinata from him.
Kisaki’s obsession with Hinata intensified after she started dating Takemichi, and he believed that he needed to become more powerful to win her back. He decided to gain more power and become the top delinquent in Japan, using his incredible genius to climb up the ranks of the Tokyo Manji Gang. Kisaki saw the other members of the gang as nothing more than stepping stones to achieve his goals.
However, despite becoming one of the top delinquents and confessing his love to Hinata multiple times, he always got rejected. Kisaki only wanted to possess Hinata and couldn’t stand watching her with another man. He saw her as a mere tool to satisfy his ego, and it’s evident from the fact that he wanted to kill her in every timeline after she rejected his proposals.
In conclusion, Kisaki’s obsession with Hinata in Tokyo Revengers comes from a deep-seated past where he developed feelings for her but lost her to Takemichi. His lust for power and control came from the belief that he needed to be powerful to win her back, but his selfish and possessive nature drove him to see her as a tool for his ego.
