The BanG Dream! franchise is known for its energetic and talented cast of all-girl bands, but it’s not often that we see them crossing over with other anime or manga series. However, that’s exactly what happened in the latest event for the English version of the franchise’s mobile rhythm game, BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!.

On Wednesday, March 3, the game launched a special event themed around the popular anime and manga series, Tokyo Revengers. Although the two series may seem like an unlikely pair at first glance, they actually have a lot in common – both feature groups of passionate and determined young people striving to achieve their dreams against all odds.

However, while BanG Dream! may be known for its cool and collected characters, Tokyo Revengers takes things to a whole new level with its gang of juvenile delinquents. So, how did the two series mesh together in the crossover event?

Rather than bringing the Tokyo Revengers characters into the world of BanG Dream!, the event instead offered players the chance to collect and play as BanG Dream! characters dressed up as delinquents. By completing special missions and rolling for characters in the “REBELS’ NEW ERA Gacha”, players could unlock three-star LOCK and MASKING members, as well as four-star LAYER, CHU², and PAREO members from the RAISE A SUILEN band.

The RAISE A SUILEN band is known for their electro-rock sound and powerful vocals, which made them a perfect fit for covering the opening theme song of the Tokyo Revengers anime, “Cry Baby”. The Afterglow band, the main group featured in the BanG Dream! anime, also got in on the action by covering the ending theme song of the Tokyo Revengers anime, “Tokyo Wonder”.

In addition to the new characters and songs, the crossover event also featured special mission rewards that referenced memorable moments from the Tokyo Revengers anime, such as the “Kids Meal With Flag” item, which was inspired by a scene where Mikey gets excited about eating one. There was also a costume based on the outfit worn by Mikey in that same scene.

While BanG Dream! may not be quite as intense as Tokyo Revengers, the crossover event was a great way for fans of both series to enjoy some fun and exciting content together. And with the event already having run in the Japanese version of the game last year, it’s clear that BanG Dream! is not afraid to mix things up and surprise their fans with unexpected crossovers.
