Seven Deadly Sins: How the Series Ended for Each Character

The Seven Deadly Sins anime has finally reached its conclusion, and fans couldn’t help but wonder how the series would end and if the characters would find a peaceful resolution to their stories. Now that the last batch from the final season, Dragon’s Judgment, has been released, it’s time to take a look at where each of the Seven Deadly Sins ended up.

The epic fantasy series had its ups and downs, but it successfully ended on an “up,” with satisfying conclusions for the characters that fans came to know and love. Some endings were happy, while others were bittersweet, but they were all impactful and left a lasting impression on viewers.

Escanor’s ending was perhaps the most tragic of all. He was the only member of the Seven Deadly Sins who did not live to see the end of the series. In the final showdown against the Demon King, Escanor lost his life because of the immense burden of the power of Sunshine. Escanor had never felt as though he belonged anywhere until he joined the Sins, and he gladly sacrificed his life for his treasured companions. In his final moments, Escanor professed his love for Merlin, knowing it was not reciprocated, yet hoping that someone worthy of her love may find her someday.

Hawk, the talking pig, went on his own journey as the Sins went their separate ways. An honorary member of the Seven Deadly Sins, he decided to travel to Purgatory to mark a grave for his brother, who Meliodas and Ban met during their own time in Purgatory. With an assist from Merlin, Hawk made his way to Purgatory and impressively adapted to the harsh environment. Eventually, he succeeded in locating his brother, Wild, and the two talking pigs had an emotional reunion.

Gowther, the goat’s sin of lust, plans to use the time of peace after the Holy War to find himself by journeying alone. He declined an invitation from Diane and King to join them, saying that he knew where he was going and would never be alone because the Sins would always be his companions. Gowther didn’t know what he wanted to do, so he planned to explore until he figured it out. He returned to Liones 10 years later for Meliodas and Elizabeth’s son’s birthday, giving him a “special present” — the memories of the adventures of the Seven Deadly Sins.

After reviving Arthur as the King of Chaos, Merlin stayed by his side, vowing to use his power to build a new kingdom of eternal peace. The pair did not reappear in the series finale, save for a brief assist from Merlin when Hawk needed a ride to Purgatory. It’s unknown if Merlin’s questionable actions in unleashing Chaos left a wedge between her and the rest of the Sins, as she was the only living member who did not join the reunion for Tristan’s 10th birthday.

During the height of the battle with the Demon King, King hastily proposed to Diane, who happily accepted. After the end of the Holy War, the couple returned to the Fairy Forest to begin planning their wedding, which they said would be soon. They returned to Liones 10 years later for Tristan’s birthday, where Diane commented that Tristan was “so cute” because he looked just like Meliodas and Elizabeth. However, King maintained that his and Diane’s child was definitely cuter.

As the Sins went their separate ways, Ban and Elaine announced they would journey all over Britannia so that Ban could sample all kinds of ale. Eighteen months later, Elaine was pregnant with her and Ban’s first child, who Ban wanted to name Lancelot. Gerheade noted that this would be the first-ever child born of a fairy and a human, and Ban expressed his excitement about becoming a father. The couple eventually returned to Liones for Tristan’s birthday, where they introduced their son, Lancelot, to the rest of the Sins.

Meliodas and Elizabeth’s story had been at the heart of the series since the beginning, and their ending was fittingly beautiful. After the end of the Holy War, the couple traveled to a remote village where they lived peacefully, helping the villagers and enjoying each other’s company. Elizabeth was finally free from the curse of her reincarnation and could now live a normal life with Meliodas. They returned to Liones 10 years later for Tristan’s birthday, where they introduced their son to their friends and companions.

Overall, the ending of The Seven Deadly Sins was well-received by fans, as it provided satisfying conclusions for each of the characters while staying true to the themes of the series. While it’s sad to say goodbye to these beloved characters, fans can now look back on their journey and appreciate the impact that they had on the world of anime.
