Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh gets trailer, theme song, and premiere date

Preview trailer, theme song, and premiere date revealed for upcoming Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh film. Animated by Alfred Imageworks and Marvy Jack studios, the film serves as an exclusive streaming platform release, with a scheduled premiere on December 20, 2022.

Written by manga author Nakaba Suzuki specifically for the film, the plot takes place 14 years after the battle against the Demon Clan, bridging the gap between the original Seven Deadly Sins series and its sequel, Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse.

The theme song titled “LEMONADE” is a collaborative effort between Hiroyuki Sawano’s vocal project SawanoHiroyuki[nZk] and XAI, known as SawanoHiroyuki[ｎZk]:XAI. A preview trailer featuring a segment of the song has been released and can be viewed on Netflix’s official YouTube channel.

The film follows Prince Tristan, haunted by his struggle to control the immense powers inherited from his father, Meliodas, the former captain of the Seven Deadly Sins known as the Dragon Sin of Wrath, and his mother, Elizabeth, from the Goddess Clan. Fleeing the kingdom to protect Elizabeth, Tristan embarks on a journey to Edinburgh, where Deathpierce, a former member of the Holy Knights known as the Pleiades of the Azure Sky, resides. The film delves into the mystery surrounding Deathpierce’s intentions, setting the stage for an enthralling tale that intertwines with the fate of The Seven Deadly Sins.

Originally a manga series by Nakaba Suzuki in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, Seven Deadly Sins has garnered multiple anime adaptations, including four seasons and three movies. The first two seasons and Prisoners of the Sky movie were animated by A-1 Pictures, while Studio DEEN took over for the third season, fourth season, and Cursed by Light movie. The series’ sequel, Four Knights of the Apocalypse, is also receiving an anime adaptation.
