Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse to be released in late 2023

The Seven Deadly Sins anime franchise has been making waves in the anime community since its initial release in 2014. With a compelling story, lovable characters, and stunning animation, it’s no wonder the series has amassed such a large following. Now, fans of the franchise have even more to be excited about, as a new spinoff series, The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse, is set to release later this year.

A new preview for the upcoming anime dropped recently, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect. The trailer confirms that Four Knights of the Apocalypse will premiere in October 2023, as part of the winter anime lineup. The anime is being produced by TMS Entertainment, the studio behind popular anime like Detective Conan and D. Gray-man.

The trailer also reveals some of the cast and crew members working on the project. Maki Odaira, known for their work on Pokémon Journeys: The Series, will serve as director. Shigeru Murakoshi, who has worked on anime like Zombie Land Saga, will oversee the series composition. Kohta Yamamoto, who has composed music for anime like Attack on Titan: The Final Season, will handle the music.

The anime will star up-and-coming voice actor Shou Komura as protagonist Percival. Komura is best known for his work on anime like Rent-A-Girlfriend and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. The rest of the cast includes veteran actors like Kikunosuke Toya (Chainsaw Man), Kanna Nakamura (When Will Ayumu Make His Move?), and Kouki Uchiyama (The Ancient Magus’ Bride).

The Four Knights of the Apocalypse anime is based on the manga series of the same name, which is a sequel to The Seven Deadly Sins manga. The manga is written and illustrated by franchise creator Nakaba Suzuki and was first serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in January 2021. So far, the series has produced 11 volumes of content.

The story follows Percival, a young boy who discovers that his destiny is to destroy the world as part of the titular band of knights. He attempts to hide from the forces of Camelot that seek to destroy him, leading to a thrilling adventure filled with action, drama, and emotion. Suzuki’s new series has been well-received by critics, with the manga receiving a nomination in the Best Printed Manga category at the Next Manga Awards in 2021.

Fans of The Seven Deadly Sins franchise have even more to look forward to besides the upcoming premiere of Four Knights of the Apocalypse. The movie The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 1 debuted on Netflix in December 2021, with the second part set to release in August 2023. The movie follows Tristan, the son of Meliodas and Elizabeth, as he sets off on an adventure to save the life of his mother.

In addition, McFarlane Toys now sells highly posable figurines of fan-favorite characters King and Meliodas. The King figure comes with a miniature of the Black Hound Oslo, while the Meliodas toy features his Hellblaze Sword.
