Voice actor Rie Takahashi recently held her first concert in Japan, titled “Rie Takahashi 1st life,” and took to Twitter a day before the show to remind fans to practice good hygiene before attending. She specifically requested that fans take basic steps such as bathing, cutting their nails, and avoiding getting drunk to ensure that they don’t emit unpleasant body odor during the event. Takahashi’s reminder about personal hygiene was received by some fans as an offensive assumption that they didn’t already practice basic hygiene, while others saw it as an example of her kindness and consideration for fans’ comfort during the concert.
Body odor is a common problem at large events like concerts and conventions, where hundreds of people are in close proximity to each other in enclosed spaces. Many event organizers have taken measures to address the issue, such as distributing deodorant to attendees or posting reminders to take showers. Takahashi’s request for personal hygiene is just one example of such measures.
Aside from her successful career as a voice actor, Takahashi is also a solo singer who debuted under the label A-Sketch in February 2021. Her debut album “Tōmei na Fusen” peaked at number 18 on the Oricon charts. She has also lent her voice to opening themes for various anime series and has upcoming roles in MAPPA’s “Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku” and Sentai Filmworks’ “Oshi no Ko.” Fans can stream most of Takahashi’s works on Crunchyroll.
