In a recent interview, Mark Ruffalo hinted at his return to the MCU in 2025, specifically mentioning his involvement in “Captain America: Brave New World.” However, a report from Variety suggests that this statement may not be accurate.
Despite not having a standalone movie since Ruffalo took over the role from Edward Norton, the Hulk has appeared in multiple live-action projects, including all the Avengers movies and “Thor: Ragnarok,” as well as a post-credits cameo in “Iron Man 3.”
During the 2024 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Ruffalo discussed his future appearances in the MCU, mentioning “Captain America: Brave New World.” However, sources indicate that this statement may not hold true.
Ruffalo has a history of unintentionally revealing information, such as accidentally live-streaming part of “Thor: Ragnarok” and spoiling the ending of “Avengers: Infinity War.” While his statement about appearing in “Captain America: Brave New World” seemed to provide confirmation, it may not be entirely accurate, according to Variety.
This revelation, whether true or not, coincides with casting announcements for other characters from the Hulk storyline, such as General Thaddeus Ross (rumored to be played by Harrison Ford) and potentially She-Hulk, portrayed by Tatiana Maslany.
Regardless of Ruffalo’s involvement, “Captain America: Brave New World” is expected to feature significant connections to the Hulk’s storyline, with returning characters like General Ross, Betty Ross, and The Leader from 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk.”
With or without Ruffalo’s appearance, “Captain America: Brave New World” is poised to be a significant installment in the MCU, providing a direct follow-up to the events of “The Incredible Hulk.” The film is scheduled to release on February 14, 2025.
