React to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on Oscars stage 2022

The slap heard ’round the world. Will Smith staggered the elegant crowd – and everybody watching at home – when he made that big appearance and smacked Chris Rock across the face after the comic made a “joke” about Jada Pinkett Smith’s going bald at the 2022 Oscars on Sunday, March 27.

“Jada, I love you,” the humorist said from the stage, joking, “G.I. Jane 2, can hardly wait to see it,” alluding to the entertainer’s hummed head, as G.I. Jane star Demi Moore wore a comparable style. (Pinkett Smith, 50, has frequently been open about losing her hair because of alopecia.)


As the camera sliced to the Smiths, the King Richard star, 53 – who later won the Oscar for best entertainer – appeared to grin at Rock’s joke, while Pinkett Smith strongly feigned exacerbation. However it at first appeared to be that Smith was OK with the jest, he immediately strolled in front of an audience and slapped the Longest Yard entertainer, 57, across the face. When he got back to his seat, he shouted, “Keep my better half’s name out of your f-ruler mouth.”

“Goodness. Will Smith just smacked the s-t outta me,” Rock shared with the crowd prior to getting back to passing out the honor for best narrative.

As far as concerns him, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum later referred to – and apologized for – the fight in his discourse while tolerating his Oscar for King Richard.

He later apologized straightforwardly to the moderator the next day in an extended explanation. “I might want to freely apologize to you, Chris,” Smith wrote on Instagram on March 28. “I was off the mark and I wasn’t right. I’m humiliated and my activities were not demonstrative of the man I need to be. There is a bad situation for savagery in a universe of affection and graciousness.”
