Pokémon Go Kleavor: Weaknesses, Counters, and Moveset

If you’re an avid Pokémon Go player, you might be interested in learning more about the Hisui region Pokémon, Kleavor, and its weaknesses, counters, and best moveset. One thing to note is that Kleavor is a bug- and rock-type Pokémon, making it weak to steel-, water-, and rock-types. Knowing this information can help you choose the best Pokémon to use when battling against it.

Fortunately, there are many different Pokémon that can be effective in defeating Kleavor. For example, Metagross with Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash, Kyogre with Waterfall and Origin Pulse or Surf (ideally as a Primal Evolution), Swampert with Water Gun and Hydro Cannon (ideally as a Mega Evolution if you don’t have Kyogre Primal Evolved), Dialga with Metal Claw and Iron Head, and Rhyperior with Smack Down and Rock Wrecker or Stone Edge are all excellent counters. Steel- or water-types are generally recommended, and you can use strong rock-types to round out your team.

Keep in mind that the weather can also affect your battle strategy. For example, rainy weather will boost water-type moves, while partly cloudy weather will help improve your rock-type damage output. If you have snow, that will give your steel-type moves a boost. While you can’t control the weather, it’s worth considering when selecting your Pokémon and moves.

When it comes to Kleavor’s moveset, Quick Attack and Rock Slide are the best options for raiding and gyms. If you can afford it, X-Scissor is a great second charged move to take advantage of the bug-typing. However, Kleavor’s low stats and lack of a rock-type quick move make it somewhat disadvantaged in the current meta.

It’s worth noting that Kleavor is available as a shiny from the get-go, unlike most Pokémon on their debut. If you manage to catch a shiny Kleavor, you’re guaranteed to catch it on your first successful throw. So, be sure to use a Pinap Berry to earn some easy extra Candy.

Finally, it’s important to mention that on its debut, Scyther cannot evolve into Kleavor in Pokémon Go. According to Niantic, the only way to catch Kleavor “currently” is through raids. However, it’s possible that a new evolution method could be introduced in the future. For now, your best bet is to participate in raid days, such as the one on May 6, 2023, to try and catch this elusive Pokémon.
