Original Cast Unlikely to Return for Avatar: The Last Airbender Animated Movies, Says Star

“Avatar: The Last Airbender Star Shares Unlikely Return of Original Cast for Animated Movies”

Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender have been eagerly anticipating the upcoming animated movies, hoping to see their beloved characters brought to life once again. However, it seems that their hopes of witnessing the original cast reprising their roles may be dashed. Michaela Jill Murphy, known by her stage name Jessie Flower for her portrayal of Toph in the iconic series, recently shared her thoughts on the likelihood of the original cast’s return.

During a panel at MomoCon, Murphy revealed that it’s highly improbable that the original cast members from Avatar: The Last Airbender will be returning for the upcoming animated films. While expressing her personal interest in reprising her role as the feisty blind earthbender Toph, Murphy acknowledged the likelihood of the filmmakers opting for a recasting of the characters.

In her statement, Murphy said, “If you’re an actor, you’re always interested in being called back for a project. I think they’re going to be recasting for pretty much everything… It’s not like people are going to clamor and be like, ‘Bring back the originals!'”

Although Murphy’s words may disappoint fans who were hoping for a nostalgic reunion with the original cast, she expressed her understanding of the creative vision behind the films. She recognized that the animated movies will explore a future where Aang and his friends have grown up, which naturally calls for voice actors who can better embody the maturity and evolution of the characters.

While the news of the original cast’s unlikely return may be disheartening, it opens up intriguing possibilities for the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise. The movies are set to feature grown-up versions of Aang and his friends, delving into their lives after the events of the original series. This narrative direction suggests new adventures, challenges, and possibly even new threats for the beloved characters to face head-on.

The expansion of the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe doesn’t end with the animated movies. A live-action series adaptation for Netflix is currently in production, set to bring the captivating world of bending and elemental mastery to life in a new and immersive way. Additionally, Paramount has confirmed two more animated films in the works, ensuring that the Avatar saga will continue to captivate audiences for years to come.

While it may be disappointing that the original cast may not be returning for the upcoming animated movies, the ongoing expansion of the franchise leaves room for exciting possibilities. The creativity and dedication of the creators behind Avatar: The Last Airbender have consistently delighted fans, and their future endeavors are sure to provide fresh and compelling stories within this beloved world.
