Marvel Studios has contemplated the return of the original six Avengers and potentially replacing Kang with Doctor Doom

Marvel Studios is aware of the challenges facing the Multiverse Saga and is considering various alternatives, such as bringing back the original Avengers and potentially replacing Kang with Doctor Doom. Since the release of Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019, Marvel Studios has been struggling to capture the same success as the Infinity Saga.

While there have been successful projects like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Loki, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, there have also been disappointments, including Secret Invasion and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Factors like the pandemic and pressure from Disney to boost their theatrical and streaming offerings have contributed to these challenges. To address these issues, Marvel Studios has been making efforts to get back on track, including revisiting Daredevil: Born Again.

According to Variety, more significant changes might be on the horizon for the Multiverse Saga. There have been discussions about the possibility of reassembling the original six Avengers for a new Avengers movie, which would include actors like Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson. However, the studio has not made a firm commitment to this idea, and budget considerations could pose a challenge due to the high costs associated with some of these actors.

Regarding Kang the Conqueror, whose portrayal by Jonathan Majors has faced legal issues, Marvel Studios is exploring alternative options for the Multiverse Saga’s main antagonist. “Quantumania” didn’t perform as expected, which has led to discussions of potential recasting or shifting to another comic book adversary, like Doctor Doom.

Despite these considerations, it seems that Kang will remain a part of the storyline for now, and the recent events surrounding Jonathan Majors have further complicated the situation. However, there are ongoing discussions about potential changes to the Multiverse Saga, including the possibility of altering the title of the next Avengers movie, currently known as “The Kang Dynasty.” Official announcements may still be some time away, but Marvel Studios is actively working to address the challenges they are facing.
