Fire Force has concluded its run, and its final chapter revealed a surprising connection to Soul Eater. Creator Atsushi Ohkubo cleverly established this connection, showing that the two series have been linked for much longer than fans realized.
In the final pages of Fire Force, protagonist Shinra Kusakabe walks into a world outside of Tokyo, which eventually becomes the main setting of Soul Eater. As Death itself, Shinra witnesses the new world he created after ending the Cataclysm, and a glimpse of the characters from Soul Eater as children follows.
While this revelation left fans amazed, the connection between the two series shouldn’t be too shocking. Fire Force’s final arc focused on Shinra’s battle against the Holy Sol religion and its destructive power. Ohkubo portrayed this religion and its light as inherently flawed, leading Shinra to reshape the world during the cataclysm.
By eliminating the Holy Sol religion, Shinra created a different world where the concept of death takes precedence. This shift sets the stage for Soul Eater, where Soul Resonance and witches become the norm, highlighting the presence of corruption in any reality. Although Shinra’s role in the fight concludes with the cataclysm, the ongoing battle against global threats falls to Maka and her comrades at the Death Meister Academy in Soul Eater.
