Pixar, too, has missed opportunities to capitalize on beloved titles like Finding Nemo and Wall-E.

Looking ahead, DreamWorks and Illumination are poised to continue their reign over the animation landscape. With anticipated releases like Kung Fu Panda 4 and Shrek 5 from DreamWorks, and the potential for Illumination to adapt more Nintendo IPs, both studios are likely to maintain their dominance, potentially surpassing Disney and Pixar in the years to come.
