Disney sues Florida, and Willow star Ralph Ineson sues Disney in a legal battle

Earlier this year, The Walt Disney Company found itself entangled in a legal dispute with the state of Florida, suing Governor Ron DeSantis and other elected officials. The conflict has now escalated as Disney files another lawsuit against Florida. Simultaneously, Disney faces legal action from actor Ralph Ineson, renowned for his role in the fantasy film “Willow.”

In the first lawsuit, Disney’s legal team targeted the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD), accusing it of violating both state law and the constitution. The basis for the legal action stems from CFTOD’s alleged failure to preserve and provide public records, specifically in response to a public record request made by Disney in May. Claiming that the CFTOD did not respond and unlawfully withheld requested records, Disney has sought intervention from an Orange County court. The entertainment giant aims for an order compelling CFTOD to release “all outstanding requested records.”

Meanwhile, the legal drama for Disney extends to the film set of “Willow,” where actor Ralph Ineson has initiated a lawsuit against the company. Ineson’s complaint alleges negligence on the part of Disney during the filming of the show. According to the legal document, Ineson’s injury occurred when he caught his right foot on a step, leading to an awkward fall landing on his right arm. Although the actor immediately experienced pain in his shoulder, he reportedly remained silent to prevent disrupting the ongoing shot. The lawsuit asserts that the show’s producers, including Jonathan Kasdan, Kathleen Kennedy, and Ron Howard, are liable for negligence. They are accused of “exerting pressure” to adhere to filming deadlines and failing to ensure the proper cleaning and safety of the steps where Ineson’s accident transpired.

As of the current moment, Disney has refrained from providing any official comments regarding Ineson’s lawsuit or addressing the specific allegations raised in the legal documents. The dual legal battles add another layer of complexity to Disney’s ongoing challenges, particularly in its relationship with the state of Florida and the broader legal landscape of the entertainment industry.
