“Avatar: The Last Airbender” fans can expect a new voice cast for the upcoming movie

New Avatar: The Last Airbender to feature entirely new voice cast

In an exciting development, it has been announced that Lauren Montgomery will take the helm as the director of the highly anticipated new animated feature, “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” Set to make its return to theaters in 2025, this film will bring back beloved characters such as Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, and Toph, allowing fans to once again immerse themselves in the captivating world of the series. However, one notable change is that the upcoming film will feature an entirely new voice cast, as the previous actors will not be reprising their roles.

During a recent appearance at MomoCon, Michaela Jae Murphy, also known as Jessie Flower, who lent her voice to the iconic character Toph, shared that she believes most, if not all, of the original cast members will not be returning for the film. This news may come as a surprise to fans who have grown attached to the talented voices that brought these characters to life.

The original voice cast included exceptional talents such as Zach Tyler Eisen, Mae Whitman, Jack De Sena, Dante Basco, Dee Bradley Baker, Mako, and Grey DeLisle, among others, all of whom contributed to the show’s enduring popularity.

Joining the production team as director, Montgomery will be working alongside Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, who will serve as producers, with Eric Coleman also involved in the production. Excitingly, reports indicate that the creators have plans to expand the franchise further, with two additional animated films currently in development. Speculation suggests that these films may focus on characters like Zuko and Avatar Kyoshi, opening up new avenues for storytelling within the rich Avatar universe.

In addition to the animated films, fans can look forward to a live-action series from Netflix that aims to bring all the elements of the Avatar world together. It’s worth noting that Konietzko and DiMartino are no longer directly involved with the Netflix series due to creative differences with the streaming platform.
