An alarming statistic points to a major issue with MCU sequels post-Endgame

A surprising statistic from the Infinity Saga reveals a growing issue with Marvel’s storytelling post-Endgame. Despite the introduction of numerous characters in MCU Phases 4 and 5, there’s been a noticeable lack of sequel announcements, deviating from the established pattern seen in the Infinity Saga.

In the early days of the MCU, iconic characters like Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor received sequels, contributing to the overall narrative of the Infinity Saga. However, the Multiverse Saga, which follows Avengers: Endgame, has yet to produce a single sequel, causing concern among fans. The Infinity Saga boasted nine sequels, while the Multiverse Saga, featuring characters like Shang-Chi and the Eternals, currently has none.

The absence of sequels for new characters introduced in Phases 4 and 5, such as Shang-Chi and the Eternals, is particularly glaring. While some heroes, like Ms. Marvel, have had their stories continued in projects like The Marvels, many are still awaiting updates on their return. The influx of new characters and storylines, including She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, America Chavez, and Ironheart, has contributed to a sense of clutter within the MCU.

This lack of continuity has resulted in diminished audience investment, with unresolved plotlines and unanswered questions lingering across various story branches. Despite rumors of sequels for characters like Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Thor, nothing has been officially confirmed. The MCU’s upcoming Phase 6 presents an opportunity for Marvel to address this issue, potentially introducing follow-up films for several heroes, establishing leaders for the next Avengers, and providing a cohesive narrative for Avengers 5. While TV shows like Ironheart and Agatha Harkness offer some follow-ups, many viewers are eagerly anticipating the resolution of these character arcs on the big screen.
