A new Shonen Jump series takes Fullmetal Alchemist’s Homunculi to even darker depths

Fabricant 100, the latest addition to Shonen Jump’s lineup, is making waves with its unique take on the Homunculi from Fullmetal Alchemist. While many new manga series attempt to emulate the success of established favorites, Fabricant 100 stands out as a fresh interpretation rather than a mere copycat.

These creations, known as Fabricants, resemble Frankenstein-esque mannequins driven by a relentless desire to attain the perfection their creator envisioned. To achieve this, they hunt down humans possessing “superior flesh” and ruthlessly harvest their body parts, meticulously stitching them onto their artificial bodies. Furthermore, each Fabricant appears to possess a distinct specialty, as demonstrated by the swift legs of the villainous Fabricant 17 introduced in Chapter 1. Through these intricate details, Fabricant 100 establishes itself as a series that delves into the territory of the Homunculi while offering its own unique twist.

What sets the Fabricants apart from their Homunculi counterparts is the chilling manner in which they sacrifice human lives. While the Homunculi relied on the creation of Philosopher’s Stones, which necessitated human death, the Fabricants engage in a far more gruesome practice, dismembering multiple individuals and sewing their body parts onto Fabricant flesh. This distinction hints at a potentially darker and more merciless nature within the Fabricants, making them a formidable and malevolent force to reckon with.

The trajectory of Fabricant 100 and its development of the Fabricants hold great promise. While these characters share a foundational concept with the Homunculi, they possess distinct qualities that make them compelling in their own right. The hope is that Fabricant 100 will capitalize on these differences and transform the Fabricants into equally iconic villains, standing tall alongside Fullmetal Alchemist’s Homunculi in the annals of manga history.
