Disney+ March 2024 lineup excludes “Wish,” prompting speculation about its streaming debut.
Disney released its latest animated feature, “Wish,” in November to mixed reviews and lackluster box office returns. Despite this, anticipation remains high among fans eager to watch it on Disney+ following its digital release in January.
The absence of “Wish” from the “Next on Disney+” schedule for March disappoints those awaiting its streaming release. However, it’s worth noting that Disney has announced releases for the following month after posting its monthly calendar in the past.
Other releases confirmed for March on Disney+ include “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version),” “Morbius,” “The Bad Batch Season 3,” and “X-Men ’97.”
Disney typically follows a consistent release pattern for its movies: theatrical, digital, Disney+, then physical. With “Wish” hitting theaters in November, going digital in January, and announcing its physical release for March 12, it would be surprising if it didn’t arrive on Disney+ by early to mid-March.
Recent Disney-distributed movies, such as “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” “The Marvels,” and “Haunted Mansion,” have debuted on Disney+ shortly before their physical releases.
While Disney’s streaming release dates haven’t always been announced far in advance, with some like “Elemental” coming just a week before its Disney+ premiere, it’s possible “Wish” could follow suit.
Despite the omission from the March 2024 schedule, fans can likely expect “Wish” to stream on Disney+ by mid-March. However, if it doesn’t, Disney may be aiming to maximize revenue from digital and physical sales following its disappointing box office performance. Nonetheless, it would be surprising if the movie didn’t eventually make its way to streaming in March.
